known for its world-class horses used for ranch work and compe-
tition, including Grey Badger II and Hollywood Gold, from which
many top racers and cutting horses are descended.
Mrs. Marion was known for her interest in the ranches and their
good management. At a young age, she spent summers on the
Four Sixes, earning the respect of the cowboys as she learned to
ride horses and do the things they did.
Upon the death of Mrs. Marion in 2020, her daughter, Windi
Grimes, assumed ownership of the Four Sixes Ranch and is com-
mitted to promoting and preserving the brand and its legacy.
Celebrating 150 years this year, the Four Sixes Ranches represent
both the present and the past. This is largely due to the foresight
of Burk Burnett and the management and support of his descen-
dants, who value their heritage and the prominent ranch’s place in
the history of Texas and the American West.
An Overview of the 6666 Ranch
Quarter Horse Breeding Program
The Quarter Horse operation at the Four Sixes consists of a state-
of-the-art horse breeding and veterinary facility, at which 1,250-
1,250 mares are bred annually from the ranch, performance, and
racing quarter horse disciplines. This ultra-modern facility, at-
tended by two full-time vets and several interns, provides veteri-
nary care for Four Sixes horses and those owned by ranches and
clients in the surrounding area.
