Remuda
From the Spanish word remudar,
meaning to change
or replace. Cowboys derived
their word "remuda" to signify
the roster of seven to ten
mounts they depended on for
their daily work.
There were circle horses,
herd horses, running horses,
roping horses, branding horses
and night horses. There were
also cutting horses with speed,
stamina and uncanny cow
sense. Often, there was a
favorite; no special
qualifications required.
For over one hundred years,
horses carrying the ranch
brands of 6666, Beggs,
Pitchfork and Tongue River
have been bred, raised, trained
and selected to meet the tasks
of ranch life. We breed ‘em
well, raise ‘em right and
ride ‘em lots of miles.
Through the changing times
present challenges, there is
always one constant: we know
we can depend on our horses
every day. They are here
for us...to start and finish
every job well done. ( 28 )
