Dr. Glenn Blodgett, veterinarian and Four Sixes Ranch horse division manager, is the recipient of the 2011 Racing Council Special Recognition Award.

The recipients of the 2011 Gordon Crone and Millie Vessels Special Achievement awards and the AQHA Racing Council Lifetime Achievement Award have been selected and will be presented during the AQHA Racing Champions announcements on January 18 at Heritage Place prior to the Winter Mixed Sale. The Special Achievement awards are given to individuals for their work during the previous year to help the American Quarter Horse racing industry, while the Lifetime Achievement award is for a cumulative body of work.
Award winners are Gordon Crone Special Achievement award winner Leverne Perry; Millie Vessels Special Achievement award winners Dawn and Rhonda List; and AQHA Racing Council Lifetime Achievement Award winner Dr. Glenn Blodgett.

Dr. Glenn Blodgett, veterinarian and Four Sixes Ranch horse division manager, is the recipient of the 2011 Racing Council Special Recognition Award.
Dr. Blodgett began representing Texas as an AQHA director in 1991, and this year was elevated to director-at-large. He has been a member of the AQHA Stud Book and Registration Committee since 1991, on which he also served as chairman. He also served on the AQHA Hall of Fame Selection Committee from 1995 to 2009.
Born December 21, 1948, Dr. Blodgett grew up on a farming and ranching operation near Spearman, a small town in the Texas Panhandle. He received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University and earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University, and has since been recognized as an outstanding alumni by both universities.
Since 1982, Dr. Blodgett has been at the Burnett Ranches’ Four Sixes Ranch near Guthrie, Texas, where he is the resident veterinarian and manager of the ranch’s horse division. In his tenure at the Four Sixes, the ranch has become an all-time leading breeder of both racing and performance American Quarter Horses, and in 1993 won the AQHA Best Remuda Award. The ranch stood American Quarter Horse Hall of Famers Dash For Cash, Special Effort and Streakin Six until their deaths. They currently stand leading sire Mr Jess Perry and eight other leading race sires.
In recent years, they raced in partnership with Johnny Trotter the champion One Famous Eagle ($1,387,453), who now stands at the ranch, and Grade 1 winner Miss Racy Jess ($485,113).
Dr. Blodgett has served in numerous other capacities in the horse industry, including on the boards of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the Texas Racing Commission. He and wife Karen have two children, Buffie Guynes, 38, who lives with husband Michael and their three daughters in Keller, Texas, and Brandi Mustian, 35, who lives with husband Mike and their son and daughter in Weatherford, Texas.
